I invited GB News to come to East Sussex to interview some of our local businesses as I was very concerned about the impact of the Labour government’s Autumn Budget on them.
I was asked to comment on the Chancellor’s Emergency Budget yesterday.
What a disaster for businesses across Sussex. Rachel Reeves should have taken emergency action to reverse the damage she created in her Autumn Budget with £40 billion in tax hikes.
Ms Reeves, don’t blame everyone else. You have mismanaged the economy; take responsibility for your destructive and disastrous economic policies which have driven up borrowing and destroyed growth.
Small businesses are the lifeblood of our communities across Sussex.
Labour’s tax and spend policies are damaging our local economy and damaging business confidence.
Sussex needs a strong, unapologetic Conservative Mayor to counter Labour’s destructive policies. Sussex needs a leader who understands the unique challenges and opportunities of our coastal, rural and urban communities.
I am ready to be that leader.
Together, we can make Sussex the best place to start and grow a business by creating a pro-business, pro-growth environment, protecting jobs and creating new ones. While Rachel Reeves and the Labour Party are raising taxes and squeezing businesses, I will champion growth, innovation and economic resilience across Sussex with a pro-growth vision backed by practical, local driven solutions.
As Mayor, I would offer a clear alternative to Labour.
